Con Ed:No More Dry Ice in Yorktown

YORKTOWN, N.Y.-- Con Edison was planning to distribute dry ice to those who needed it at the Triangle Shopping Center in Yorktown Monday until 7 p.m. Monday night, but officials quickly ran out of supplies.

Dozens of Yorktown residents turned out in the hopes of getting ice to preserve their food, and were stunned to learn Con Ed ran out. Some had waited five hours for dry ice,to no avail.

Officials told those present that additional supplies would be made available, and many of those on hand were visibly angry when i was not. It's unclear if Con Edison will provide any supplies on Tuesday.

Supervisor Siegel reminded residents of these guidelines for refrigeration:

-Unopened full freezer, food is good for 48 hours-Unopened 1/2 full freezer, food is good for 24 hours-Unopened refrigerador, depending on the type of food, four to six hours

As of noon Monday, more than 2,400 of Con Ed's nearly 8,200 customers were still without power. Nearly 4,800 of NYSEG's 6,400 customers were without power as well.
