Despite Primary Loss, Ciffone Vows Write-In Campaign for Nov. Election

YORKTOWN, N.Y.-- Candidate for Town Council, Ed Ciffone, has once again vowed a write-in campaign for the November election, after losing in the primary on September 13.

Although the numbers are not official from the Board of Elections, Ciffone claimed to have received 104 write-in votes, and said he received enough support to make him want to try to win the actual election as a write-in candidate.

“I thought it was a pretty good number, it shows that there are at least that many people listening out there, and I just have to get out there to more people,” Ciffone said. “Yes, a write-in might be really tough to win, but as they say if you’re not in it, then you can’t tell how many votes you might get.”

Ciffone unsuccessfully tried to make it onto the Republican and Conservative ballots, and launched a write-in campaign in the primary. With this updated information, current Councilman Nick Bianco, and candidate for councilman, Dave Paganelli, have both won the primaries for town council on the Republican and Conservative lines.

“All I know is, I want to thank all those people who voted for me, and maybe they can do it again in the general election,” Ciffone said.

There are still other races concerning Yorktown for which write-in ballots have not been made official. The race for county legislator in district 1, district 4 and the conservative primary for Yorktown Supervisor. The Daily Yorktown made two separate phone calls to the Board of Elections, the last one made on Friday afternoon, and was told the write-ins were still being calculated by the Board of Elections, and the results would be reflected on their website. As of Saturday morning, only absentee votes are reflected on the website. We will update election results as more become available.
