Edith Rosenthal, 86, Former Yorktown Teacher Dies

YORKTOWN, N.Y. – Edith M. Rosenthal, a former Yorktown teacher, died May 18 in Longboat Key, Fla. She was 86.

She was born July 15, 1925 in Berlin, Germany. She raised her family in Yorktown Heights, where she also taught fifth and sixth grade.

Rosenthal enjoyed spending time with her husband, Henry, whom she was married to for 62 years. Her hobbies included traveling, golf, tennis, bridge, skiing, sailing, theater, music and entertaining.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters Nanette "Nina" (Frank) Sheftman of Israel and Carrie of York, Maine and Sarasota, Fa., son Thomas "Rosie" of Cortland, N.Y., five grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, one brother David Lewin of England and her best friend of more than 50 years, Rita Wolfson.
