A recent Yorktown Board of Education Meeting started off on a celebratory note, as seven individuals were granted tenure and thanked for their dedication to the students in the Yorktown schools.
Students sang You Raise Me Up to those in attendance at the Monday meeting, and Superintendant of Schools Ralph Napolitano congratulated and thanked the tenure recepients and shared a story of his own peronsal relationship and gratitude toward an English teacher he had. He then asked those in the audience to comtemplate a teacher who has left an imprint on them.
High School Principal, Joseph Degennaro was one of those individuals who received tenure; along with teachers Lauren Conciatori, Mary Peters, Susan Sabella, Arthur Wenzel, school psychologist Jessie Wallace, and Certified Teaching Assistant's Mary Broder.
Also in attendance were CTAs Martina Sheridan and Lisa Joy Romero, as well as teacher Mark Pavella who received tenure earlier in the year prior to Mondays meeting.
