The incident led to the closure of Route 9D.
The 45-year-old hiker, who fell between 20 and 30 feet from a trail in Hudson Highlands State Park shortly before 9 a.m., was transported by helicopter by the Westchester County Police Department Aviation Unit. The hiker suffered leg and back injuries.
Emergency responders were at the scene for approximately four hours.
Also responding were New York State Police and Aviation, Peekskill Volunteer Ambulance Corps., Cortlandt Peekskill Regional Paramedics, Continental Village Volunteer Fire Department, Westchester County Battalion 10 Westchester County Car 1, Fort Montgomery Fire Department, Orange County Paramedics, West Point Fire Department and Aviation and StatFlight.
