YORKTOWN, N.Y. - Councilman Vishnu Patel was sweeping the sidewalk on Commerce St. Thursday, in excited anticipation for the weekend's upcoming Festival and Street Fair.
"We have to make it all look nice and neat before the festival comes Sunday," Patel said, sporting a green lab coat and a broom.
The third annual street festival will take place Sunday, hosted by the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce and the Town of Yorktown.
"It's bigger than ever," said Joe Visconti, President of the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce. "I would have to guess, it will probably be about 25 percent bigger than last year; every year it just keeps growing."
Yorktown residents can attend the fair from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. full of 250 vendors, 15 musical acts, a health and fitness demo, kids entertainment, a car and a mini stock car racetrack.
Yorktown Supervisor Susan Siegel said the town was excited to co-host such a community-minded event.
"It's really a great way to show what Yorktown has to offer," Siegel said. "There's going to be something for everyone of all ages, you can spend hours looking at the different vendors and meeting people in the community, it's just a fabulous day altogether."
