Gun Debate Rally In Carmel Draws Supporters From Both Sides

A rally against gun violence in Putnam County turned into a battle between two camps of thought, according to this report by FiOS1 News.

While some are calling for stricter gun laws others feel tougher gun laws won't make people safer from violence.

Indivisible Yorktown squared off against the Putnam County Firearm Owners Association at the Putnam County Courthouse on Monday, Feb. 19.

“I'm a gun owner,” Robert Hooten of the Putnam County Firearm Owners Association told FiOS1 News. “To think that by restricting my rights to protect myself and my family is going to somehow make a criminal less likely to get their hands on a gun illegally is just crazy. It doesn't make sense."

Indivisible Yorktown called for Congress to take action after 17 students and staff were killed last week at a high school shooting in south Florida.
