SHRUB OAK, N.Y. The John C. Hart Memorial Library has received a grant from the Westchester Library System to fund a new program for aging adults.
The Creative Aging Grant will enable the library in Shrub Oak to offer The Family of Women: A Creative Writing Adventure Into the Journey of Women's Lives this fall. The emerging field of "creative aging" focuses on the positive and powerful role of the arts in enhancing the quality of life for older Americans. According to the library, proponents of creative aging recognize growing older as a time of life with abundant but untapped potential for personal growth and enhanced well-being.
The program is supported by the Helen Andrus Benedict Foundation through the Westchester Library System in partnership with Lifetime Arts Inc.
The creative writing program, which is free and open to the public age 55 and older, will run at Hart Library on Fridays from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. from Sept. 7 to Nov. 9. Registration is required. For further information, call 914-245-5262, ext. 227.
