Missing were Sin and Jeung Kim, 75, both of Harrington Park, N.J.

The search for the Kims began after the Parkway Police received a call from two hikers reporting that they were lost in the woods. The couple had departed State Line Lookout and no longer knew their location, police said.

During the call, the cell phone battery died and patrol officers began searching the area. With assistance from PIP Marine 4, thermal imaging, and the New York Police Aviation unit, crews searched the area and trails of State Line Lookout with without finding the couple, police said.

The search was called off around 12:30 a.m. for safety reasons due to darkness and the dangerous terrain. At 7 a.m. Thursday, additional patrols including Marine 4 and Westchester County Police Department Aviation resumed the search. Later, Bergen County Sheriff and Westchester County Police K-9 units joined the search.

At approximately 12:15 p.m., a hiker approached the command post in State Line Lookout and said they had found a missing person on the trail leading up the side of the cliff south of Woman’s Federation Monument. Patrols confirmed it was one of the two persons from the evening. Additional patrols were sent to the location of the second person and assisted them to the command post as well. Both missing parties were evaluated by EMS and refused aid. Family members were on scene and transported the couple home, police added.

According to the Kim's, they Ihad gotten lost on the lower trails and slept on the cliff side until morning where they were not visible due to heavy tree coverage.
