YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- A recent meeting of the Yorktown Town Board informed residents that they will be raising water rates by $1.25 per 1,000 gallons to $6.26 per 1,000 gallons. A public hearing will be held before the increase is official, according to Citizens for an Informed Yorktown.
In addition to the water increase, the board also discussed the Parks & Recreation Department's request to continue using organic pesticides and herbicides on town properties; approved the purchase of a new emergency generator for the Police Department, okayed the Town Clerk's office to sell EZ Passes, and approved a contract to purchase staples and produce from the Food Bank of Westchester for the Senior Nutrition program.
Hilltop Service Station also sought the board’s feedback on their plans to install a canopy over the pumps and the continued ability to sell used cars from the site, and Lake Osceola Beach presented a new concept for the site that included 24-32 rental apartments on one side of the parcel and a restaurant on the other side.
