Carter had surgery to remove a mass on his liver on Aug. 3.The procedure revealed cancer had spread to other parts of his body.
The 39th president said he would be adjusting his schedule to accommodate treatment at Emory Healthcare.
Carter also said he'd release a statement with further details as they become available.
