YORKTOWN, N.Y.A 55-year-old Putnam man was charged with driving while intoxicated in Yorktown when police found the man driving drunk, and learned he had two prior DWI convictions.
Rudolph Mechura of Lake Peekskill was charged with DWI, a felony, on Feb. 18 at approximately 3 a.m. when he was found speeding on Lexington Avenue. Mechura was arrested and charged and taken to Yorktown police headquarters when they learned he also had two prior convictions within the last ten years for driving while intoxicated.
Mechura was arraigned in Yorktown Justice Court and remanded to Westchester County Jail on no bail. He was scheduled to appear in Justice Court again on Tuesday. Mechuras case was put back up for Thursday, and he was brought back to jail. Mechuras Legal Aid lawyer pointed out Tuesday that the entire third row of the court room was filled with eight men all there in support of Mechura.
