'Battle for Yorktown'
The 'Battle of Yorktown' has been a yearly effort by volunteers to collect roadside litter. We all see that litter is a blight on the community and damages Yorktown's image. I want to thank those volunteers for all their efforts.
The 'Real Battle for Yorktown' may be for taxpayers to summon the will to finally hold it's elected officials accountable for their actions and enforce ethical standards. The first step has already been taken and a complaint has been lodged with the Ethics Board. The clouds of conflict of interest and political self dealings lingering over Town Hall may wind up tarnishing Yorktown's image far more than any piece of roadside trash ever could. Ethics reforms, transparency and political accountability are much needed and would go a long way to clean things up in Yorktown.
