What's the next shoe to drop in Yorktown's revitalization? For a select few elected officials these personal multi-million dollar property deals are like winning 'Politician's Property Developer's Sweepstakes'? While some personal property deals involving politicians have recently been exposed are there other hidden business partnerships between elected officials or additional property transactions that have taken place under the taxpayer's radar that will remain unknown? Will recently enacted laws including tax abatement, affordable housing, wetlands and re-zoning benefit the very same politicians that enacted them? It's way past due for Financial Disclosure Reports to be submitted by every elected official. We have been told that "Everything will be self evident when the dust settles". That may be much too late. Questions still persist concerning whether elected officials in pursuing their personal agendas skirted ethical rules or violated laws. What's the timeline of politician's decisions on developing their own properties and subsequent votes that were cast and grants that were given? Yorktown's Ethics Board remains silent. 'See, Hear and Speak No Evil' permeates the very fabric of Yorktown's politics. Will the YCC Building or Town Hall be the next town owned properties to be auctioned off to complete the land developers 'hat trick' of revitalizing Yorktown? Would we be that surprised to find out after election day that politicians have hung a 'FOR SALE' on the door knobs of Town Hall? What's left to do? Cry foul, proclaim innocence, attack the messenger then count their money.
