Mahopac Woman Charged With Identity Theft In Yorktown

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. – Kristine M. Doherty, a 32-year-old Mahopac resident, was charged Wednesday with identity theft in the second degree and criminal possession of a forged document in the second degree, according to Yorktown police.

Police said they received a call from the owner of a business on Main Street in Mohegan Lake reporting an identity theft. An officer responded to the scene and conducted an investigation that revealed Doherty presented the business owner with a forged personal check which contained the identity of a woman who resided in Mahopac, according to police.

Police said Doherty voluntarily appeared at police headquarters and was arrested in reference to the incident. Following processing on the charges, Doherty was arraigned by a judge who released her on $300 bail. She is scheduled to be in Yorktown Court at 6 p.m. Thursday.
