Reduced a.m. peak and p.m. peak service will be in effect on New Year's Eve to match service and train crew resources with the reduced passenger demand.
Additional inbound trains will begin in the afternoon and early evening.
Hourly outbound service will begin after 8 p.m.
Metro-North will also continue its traditional post-midnight outbound service between midnight and 5 a.m.
Train riders are reminded that drinking alcohol on Metro-North trains and train stations is banned from noon New Year's Eve until noon New Year's Day.
As in past years, those traveling home after midnight on New Year’s Eve must will have tickets collected prior to boarding trains at Grand Central.
Trains will operate hourly on New Year’s Day with two additional mid-day trains to New Haven to accommodate higher demand between noon and 2 p.m.
On Friday, trains will operate a Saturday schedule with additional a.m. inbound and p.m. outbound trains.
