Police Seek Public's Help In Fatal Taconic Parkway Crash Investigation

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- The cause of the four-car crash Saturday that resulted in three deaths and eight injuries on the Taconic State Parkway in Yorktown remains under investigation.

State Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash, which occurred just north of Baldwin Road, to contact State Police Hawthorne Bureau of Criminal Investigation by calling (914) 742-6400.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a BMW sport utility vehicle was traveling northbound when it exited the roadway into the center median, struck an earth embankment, and became airborne into the southbound lanes at approximately 2:50 p.m. Saturday, police said.  The BMW struck two southbound vehicles and a third southbound vehicle was also involved in the collision, according to authorities.

Three unidentified people died in the accident. One person is listed in critical condition at Westchester Medical Center, five people are listed in stable condition at Westchester Medical Center, and two were treated and released from Hudson Valley Hospital.

The names of the victims will be released pending notification of next of kin, authorities said.
