YORKTOWN, N.Y.-- Outages, flooding and road closures persisted into Monday morning in Yorktown, a day after tropical storm Irene passed through.
As of Monday morning, Supervisor Susan Siegel said the following roads were closed due to down trees:
Crow Hill RoadHanover StreetStoney StreetMohegan AvenueHunterbrook RodLexington Ave.White Hill Road
Motorists are urged to drive with caution as the roads may appear to be in satisfactory condition but the blacktop could be undermined, she wrote in an email Monday morning. Town officials are working closely with Con Ed and NYSEG on the restoration of power. Residents are asked to be patient.
As of Monday morning, more than 2,400 Con Edison customers were without power, and more than 4,700 NYSEG customers were without power in Yorktown.
Siegel also said phone service to the Yorktown Police Department was knocked out Sunday night, and that calls are being rerouted to the county police.
She said that as of 8 a.m. Town Hall was without electricity.
