Pudding Street Overpass Project In Putnam Valley Advances, State Says

PUTNAM VALLEY, N.Y. -- The state says it has the funding to build an overpass at the Pudding Street crossing on the Taconic State Parkway, but some local officials say they won’t believe it until they see it, according to a report by lohud.com.

The state says it is in the design phase of a project that would build an overpass at the Pudding Street crossing on the Taconic Parkway in Putnam Valley.

The intersection is the only at-grade crossing on the busy highway in Putnam County, and some parents say they are worried because the school bus carrying their children has to cross there, reported lohud.com.

The project has been talked about since 2002 but somehow never got completely off the ground, said school Trustee David Spittal, according to the lohud.com report.

The lohud.com story quoted Sen. Sue Serino, R-Hyde Park, as saying that nearly $25 million has been set aside and that the overpass project could get going in three or four years.

A public hearing on the project will take place this summer, she told lohud.com.
