YORKTOWN, N.Y. - Registrations and donations are now being accepted for Support Connection's 18th Annual Support-A-Walk, which will be held Oct. 7 at Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park in Yorktown.
Last year, more than 9,000 people attended the event, with registrants and supporters from more than 117 municipalities in 14 states. All the proceeds assist Support Connection in providing free and confidential services to women affected by breast and ovarian cancer, and their families.
Participants of all ages take part in the three-mile walk and teams of walkers are formed to support individuals battling cancer or in memory of loved ones.
Online donations can be made at www.supportconnection.org. Supporters can raise funds by creating personal Web pages at www.firstgiving.com/supportconnection/walk2012. Messages of support, celebration or commemoration can be displayed along the walk path by purchasing Tribute Signs for $50 apiece.
