SHRUB OAK, N.Y. – Abbott’s Frozen Custard in Shrub Oak was the site of a mini-fundraiser Thursday evening for Support Connection, a non-profit that raises awareness and offers support for breast and ovarian cancer patients.

Kaurey Foley, a staff member with Support Connection, said Abbott's pledged to donate 40 percent of proceeds from 4 to 8 p.m. to the charity. She said the mini-fundraiser also helped promote the organization's 18th Annual Support-a-Walk in fall.

Foley and other volunteers sat outside Abbott’s trying to add to Thursday’s donation total by selling raffle tickets. The drawing will take place Oct. 7 at 9 a.m. during pre-walk activities at FDR Parking.

Possible prizes include a $500 cash grand prize, a 32-inch Sony high definition television,  a $300 gift certificate to Skinchanted Spa in Peekskill, a color Nook, two tickets to Westchester Broadway Theater and a $100 gift certificate to Augie’s Steakhouse.

The East Main Street ice cream parlor opened in March and held a similar fundraiser last month for the Mohegan Lake Volunteer Fire Association. The Rochester based-company has over 40 other locations, mostly in New York State.
