Shrub Oak Pool Opens Saturday in Yorktown

YORKTOWN, N.Y. - Starting Saturday, Yorktown residents will have two swimming pools to choose from to cool off.

The Brian J. Slavin Aquatic Facility at Shrub Oak Park at the end of Sunnyside Avenue will open for the season at 11 a.m. The facility, which features an interactive water playground and a diving pool, will be open 1 to 6 p.m. on weekdays from June 11-22 and noon to 7 p.m. from June 25 to August 31. On weekends and holidays, the pool opens from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Tile work that was required on a portion of the pool's deck has been completed, according to Parks and Recreation Superintendent Brian Gray.

"It looks great out there," Gray said. "We're ready to go."

Junior Lake Pool at Memorial Park, which includes a popular water slide, opened Memorial Day weekend and drew large crowds.

A seasonal pass or daily use fee is required for residents to use the pools. Both facilities also have snack bars.
