YORKTOWN, N.Y. - Mildred E. Strang Middle School students will get a chance to perform on a larger stage with their spring show "The Music Man Jr."
On Friday and Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m., a large cast of students from sixth to eighth grade will trek across the campus parking lot to Yorktown High School to entertain audiences with a feel-good musical comedy based on the original Broadway American classic.
The play takes place during the early days of the 20th century when a con man tries to cheat an Iowa community out of their money. Instead, he learns a lesson in moral responsibility. Musical directors Paul Di Rito and Ms. Jessie Wallace selected the musical because it offers students an opportunity to experience early America on stage and provides many roles for students, including behind the scenes stage crew duties. Nearly 60 students are involved in the show.
Tickets are $9 and can be purchased at the Strang Middle School main office at 243-8100. If any tickets remain, they will be sold at the door.
