YORKTOWN, N.Y. – Several roads in downtown Yorktown will be closed for a short time Wednesday evening to make room for the annual Yorktown Heights Engine Company No. 1 parade.

The parade, which kicks off at 7 p.m. on Moseman Avenue near St. Patrick's Church, ushers in the Fire Department's popular carnival, scheduled to run from Wednesday through Sunday.

To provide for the safety of parade participants and spectators, Yorktown police will shut down area roadways from 6:45 p.m. until the end of the parade.

Motorists are advised to avoid the following roads: Underhill Avenue between Hanover Street and Route 118; Commerce Street between Route 202/35 and Underhill; Veterans Road between Commerce and Maple Hill Street; Kear Street at Underhill; Downing Drive at Commerce; Hanover Road between Moseman Avenue and Commerce; Front Street at Underhill; and Richard, Church & Hardwood Place at Hanover.
