The winners of the “Most Creative Team Banner” were the members of Daisy Troop 10077, a group of 13 girls who are all first graders at Beekman Elementary School in Poughquag. Troop Leader Carrie Tropea of Hopewell Junction has participated in the Support-A-Walk for many years with her family, walking in memory of her mother Caroline Puppo, who died of breast cancer. The runner-up was Team Gayle. Siblings Stephanie, Kevin and Stacey Martorano, Paul, all of Stormville, NY, have taken part in the Support-A-Walk every year since 2013. Together, along with friends and supporters, they walk in memory of their mom and wife Gayle, who died of ovarian cancer.
The award for “Top Fundraising Teams-Most Funds Raised” was Team Marci. Kim’s Krew, Saw Mill Cosmos, and Sue’s Crew tied for runner-up.
The “Top Teams-Most Donors” went to Team Lisa. Runners up were Kim’s Krew and Debbie’s Divas.
The Support-A-Walk is held to bring attention to the needs of people affected by breast and ovarian cancer, and to raise funds for Support Connection’s free support services for those living with these diseases.
