Support Connection Beneficiary of Putnam Event Wednesday

YORKTOWN, N.Y.—Support Connection, the not-for-profit organization providing free, confidential support services to people with breast or ovarian cancer, will be the beneficiary of a Professional Women of Putnam event on Wednesday.

Professional Women of Putnam, a networking group for the women of Putnam County, will host the event at Camp Kiwi in Mahopac at 6 p.m. Admission is $35 which includes dinner and dissert. A cash bar will also be available.

Jamie Imperati, creator and president of PWP, created the organization to have a place where women can have business and personal networking opportunities. The networking events that PWP holds often are designated to benefit a local charity. Previous events have helped Putnam Community Cares , Hillside Food Outreach, the American Heart Association and the Putnam/Northern Westchester Women’s Resource Center.

“Whenever I do an event where I can donate to a local charity, my heart really goes to an organization that helps women and children,” Imperati said. “And I like to help the not-for-profits that are local, that might not get the national support that other organizations get.”

Imperati said that she and Katherine Quinn, executive director of Support Connection have always had a great chemistry, and that Quinn was a speaker at the second event she hosted when starting PWP.

“They do great work, they help the community so much,” Imperati said. “It’s my pleasure to help out an organization that helps out so many people.”

Vendors will be at the event, including guest speaker Sara Oppenheim-Somerville, presenting “An Introduction to Hypnosis: What it is, what it isn’t, what it can be used for and how it can help us achieve health and balance in our lives.” Oppenheim-Somerville, a breast cancer survivor has spoken at Support Connection events in the past. Staff from Support Connection will also be at the event to share information about their free programs and services.
