Support Connection Offers Dutchess, Putnam Support Groups In May

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Residents of Putnam and Dutchess counties coping with breast and ovarian cancer can find support and information through upcoming event sponsored by Support Connection Inc., a not-for-profit organization that provides free, confidential support services.

The groups focus on topics pertaining to living with cancer through all stages of diagnosis, treatment and post-treatment. They are offered in Westchester, Putnam and Dutchess, and by toll-free teleconference. For a complete calendar of groups at all locations, visit www.supportconnection.org. The following support groups are scheduled for May:

  • East Fishkill Community Library, Hopewell Junction: Breast and Ovarian Cancer Support Group: Tuesday, May 10, at 10:15 a.m. 
  • Putnam Hospital in Carmel: Breast & Ovarian Cancer Support Group: Wednesday, May 18, at 7 p.m. 
  • Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie: Breast & Ovarian Cancer Support Group: Thursday, May 26, at 7 p.m. 
  • Teleconferences: For those unable to attend groups in person, there are monthly Telephone Support Groups via toll-free teleconference, enabling women to participate regardless of their location and from the comfort of their homes. Call a few days ahead to learn how to participate. 
  • The Advanced Stage or Metastatic Breast Cancer Telephone Group will take place on Monday, May 2, at 8 p.m. The Ovarian Cancer Telephone Group will take place on Wednesday, May 11, at 8 p.m.
