YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- The Support-A-Walk, an event founded 17 years ago to raise awareness about breast and ovarian cancer, will take place Sunday at FDR State Park in Yorktown Heights.
The walk, hosted by Support Connection, attracted more than 9,000 people last year. Families, friends, co-workers, teams and individuals can take part in the three mile walk.
Honorary chairpersons for the event are Kacey Morabito Grean of "Mike and Kacey in the Morning," on 100.7 WHUD Radio and Matt Sampson of News 12 Westchester. Sampson leads the "Not For Women Only" campaign for the walk, which encourages men to become involved in the walk. There is also a "Students for Support Connection" campaign for students of all ages to volunteer and fundraise for the event.
For those who can't attend, or want to donate now, online donations can be made at the Support Connection website . Supporters can create their own web pages at this link to ask friend and family for donations. Tribute signs can be purchased for $50 each to show messages of support, celebration or commemoration to be displayed on the walk.
