According to a story in the Journal News, Tendy asked an undersheriff that a deputy not attend a hearing to determine if his fiancee refused to take a breathalyzer test following a car accident in October of 2009.

Tendy said his fiancee called him, and noticing she sounded "a little funny," Tendy went to check on her.

He said he saw his fiancee's car totaled and that she was injured. She was going to go to a hospital, but a deputy grabbed her by the arm and pulled her away. Tendy said his fiancée broke her shoulder six months prior.

"She said, 'What are you doing?' " Tendy said. "I said the same thing. The deputy said to step back or I'd get arrested. I had to stand there and watch this. He tried to put her through sobriety tests, but she could barely walk."

Tendy said she was brought to a holding cell and denied access to a doctor.  Tendy said he went to see the undersheriff to complain about the behavior of the deputy and that what the deputy wrote in his complaint was false.

"I told him that if he takes the stand and said what he wrote down, that that's perjury," Tendy said. "You might want  to talk to him."

The charges were dismissed at the hearing.

Marc Sabin, a spokesman for Levy's campaign, said the allegations were troubling and disappointing.

"Bob Tendy's unethical conduct is unacceptable   for any public official and certainly unbecoming of   someone who wants to be District Attorney," Sabin said.

Tendy blames Levy for the story being leaked to the press.

"Who are they trying to kid?" Tendy said. "I expected him to go after me directly. I didn't expect him to go after my fiancée. If he was man enough, he'd go after me. He's a coward."

Tendy said these allegations won't damage him, since he hasn't done anything wrong.

"Nothing will surprise me from him," Tendy said. "If he'll attack a woman, he'll do anything. He's a disgrace."

Sabin said this was a long pattern of Tendy abusing his office for his own self interests.

"This is the character he exhibits when he thinks no one is looking," Sabin said.

Tendy also published a post on his DA campaign website over the incident headlined, "I will not be intimidated."

"It is truly sickening how low this spoiled little rich kid will go in order to get what he wants," Tendy wrote in the post.

"I am not intimidated, and my family is not intimidated," Tendy wrote in the post. "I am moving forward and will do what needs to be done to get this bum out of office."
