PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. - A trio from Putnam County was busted by law enforcement for selling various drugs.

Putnam County Sheriff Don Smith announced three arrests on Tuesday that were made by his department’s Narcotics Enforcement Unit in Mahopac, Southeast and Putnam Valley over a stretch of three days.

Mahopac resident Matthew Slader, 36, was arrested on Nov. 10 and charged with three felony counts each of criminal sale of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a controlled substance after allegedly selling Suboxone to an undercover deputy sheriff on three different occasions. He was also found in possession of heroin at the time of his arrest.

The following day, 20-year-old Southeast resident John Power was arrested for allegedly selling prescription medications and cocaine to an undercover deputy in Carmel. He’s been charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance, multiple counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal sale of a controlled substance.

Both Slader and Power have been released on bail.

On Nov. 13, Putnam Valley resident Albert Tapia, 24, was arrested after allegedly selling heroin to undercover deputies. He has been charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a controlled substance, both felonies. He has been remanded to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.

All three men are due in court later this year to answer the charges.
