YORKTOWN, N.Y.-- Two construction workers were struck by a drunk driver early Friday morning, according to Yorktown police.
Police arrested Mabel C. Martinez after she allegedly failed to keep right on Route 202 and struck two members of a pavement marking crew. Martinez, 31, of Valley Stream, N.Y. allegedly had a blood alcohol level of over .18 which is over twice the legal limit, and was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content over .18, both misdemeanors and fail to keep right, a traffic infraction.
Police responded to the call at about 12:24 to a report of an auto injury. The workers injuries were significant but not life threatening and they were transported to the hospital for treatment, according to police.
Martinez was placed under arrest and processed at Yorktown police department. She was released to a friend on $250 bail and is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Court September 20 at 6 pm.
