Two Yorktown Men Arrested for Grand Larceny

YORKTOWN, N.Y.-- Two men from Yorktown were arrested Monday after they were found driving a van that a Yorktown resident reported stolen over an hour before.

A resident alerted police that his Ford van had been stolen from his driveway on August 15 at 4:26 p.m. Police later observed the vehicle being operated on High Ridge Ct. a little over an hour later.

Police arrested Grigoriy Yarmarkov, 27, of Yorktown for grand larceny, a felony, and criminal possession of stolen property, a felony. Yarmarkov lives on High Ridge Ct, where police found the pair operating the vehicle.

John Fierro, 25, of Frost Road in Shrub Oak, was arrested on the same felonies as Yarmarkov. He is also charged with an additional felony, burglary in the second degree, when police investigation revealed he also entered the residence where the pair stole the van from, and stole jewelry.

Fierro was remanded to Westchester County Jail and was due to appear in Yorktown court on August 16. Yarmarkov was released on $3,000 bail and is due to appear in Yorktown Court on August 18 at 6 p.m.

Other news from the Yorktown Police Department:

-       Cesar Genao-Mejia, 22, was arrested for driving while intoxicated, driving with a blood alcohol level .08 percent or more and failure to stay within a traffic lane. Police responded to a one-car accident on Rt. 132, and found that the driver, Genao-Mejia, was intoxicated and collided with a guard rail.  He was originally arrested for driving while intoxicated, and failure to stay within the lane. At police headquarters, it was found that his blood alcohol level was at or in excess of .08.  He was released on his own recognizance and is due to appear in court on September 13 at 6 p.m.

-       Sonilda Lumi, 17, of Crompond Road, was arrested on August 15 after she allegedly threatened a female, in violation of an order of protection. Lumi was charged with criminal comtempt in the first degree, a felony. She was remanded to Westchester County Jail and was due to appear in Yorktown Court on August 16.
