What To Do This Weekend With The Kids

Need some ideas for this weekend? Check out some of the events for some inexpensive family fun:

Saturday kicks off the Pigeon’s Read-to-me club at the John C. Hart Library. There are still 25 openings for this club for “pre-readers.” The kick-off starts at 1:30 p.m. and Storytime Stage entertainers will be there to start the club off right. Call the library to register.

The monthly birdwatching will take place at Hilltop Hanover Farm on Saturday from 7:30 a.m.--9:30 a.m. Take a walk around the pastures and trails and identify species of the birds you see. Discuss things such as habitat, weather and the environment and how they influence the animals you see. The observations on this tour will be logged into ebird.org that helps other bird-interested folk such as educators and ornithologists. If it rains, show up on Sunday to participate. Call to register; $10 per adult, $5 per child.

Take a trip to Teatown for Insectamania on Sunday. As part of their animal adventures events, visit the reservation from 11 a.m.--12:00 p.m. on Sunday to learn more about Teatown’s six-legged friends and visitors.
