YORKTOWN, N.Y. - Memorial Day weekend is upon us and several outdoor events are planned, including a remembrance ceremony and parade to honor veterans who fought for this country's freedom.
Friday, May 25
Midnight Madness: 10:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Moonlight bowling every Friday and Saturday at Jefferson Valley Lanes featuring in-house DJs. $20 per person (includes shoes), all you can bowl. 3699 Hill Blvd.
Saturday, May 26
Farmers Market: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Vendors sell vegetables, fruit and other goods. Benefits local organizations. This week: Vision Replacement for the Blind. From 10-10:45 a.m., there is a Lorna Groux Kids' Karate demo. Field behind Yorktown Fire Department, Commerce Street.
Cool Off: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Junior Lake Pool at Memorial Park opens all three days of holiday weekend. Yorktown residents only. Seasonal and daily passes available. Edgewater Street.
Monday, May 28
Honor Roll: 10 a.m. Mohegan Lake Fire Dept. has its annual Memorial Day Service Shrub Oak Honor Roll. East Main Street.
Parade: 11 a.m. Memorial Day Parade. Begins at Yorktown Town Hall. Underhill Avenue.
