YORKTOWN, N.Y. Relay for Life and the 2012 Charlie Murphy Jamboree and Matt Kull Alumni Game are two charitable causes that highlight a busy weekend of events in Yorktown.
Friday, June 8
Farm Stand: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The farm stand at Hilltop Hanover Farm will be open, selling lettuce, Swiss chard, fresh kale, spinach, Bok Choy and other seasonal offerings. 1271 Hanover Street.
Relay for Life: 5 p.m. on Friday to sunset on Saturday. The American Cancer Society fundraiser will be at Jack DeVito Field behind the Yorktown Community and Cultural Center, with 14 continuous hours of activities, entertainment and inspiring moments. Registration begins at 5 p.m. on Friday. The opening ceremonies are at 7 p.m.
Saturday, June 9
Lacrosse Tournament/Blood Drive: 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Ninety boys and girls lacrosse teams from Westchester, Putnam and surrounding areas will be taking part in 2012 Charlie Murphy Jamboree and Matt Kull Alumni Game at Yorktown High School, coordinated by the Yorktown Athletic Club. A blood drive is also scheduled, with a goal of 125 pints.
Veg Out: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This will be the opening day of U-Pick Vegetable Garden at Hilltop Hanover Farm, the only vegetable farm in the region where customers can pick and choose and enjoy harvesting organically grown vegetables. Guided farm tours run from 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. 1271 Hanover Street.
Legally Blonde the Musical: 2 and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday on the Yorktown Stage. The show is presented by Lighthouse Youth Theater. Tickets prices are $18 to $20. 1974 Commerce Street.
