What's Happening This Weekend In Yorktown

YORKTOWN, N.Y. - High school graduations and a firemen's carnival highlight a busy weekend in Yorktown.

Friday, June 22

Carnival: 7 p.m. to midnight.  The annual Yorktown Volunteer Fire Department's carnival will run Friday to Sunday with rides, games and food. Located on field off Veterans Road.

Saturday, June 23

Lakeland Class of 2012: 10 a.m. Lakeland High School will hold its graduation at the Westchester County Center in White Plains. The district's other high school, Walter Panas, whose students reside mostly in Cortlandt, holds its graduation at 2 p.m. at the County Center.

Yorktown Class of 2012: 1 p.m. Yorktown High School will hold its graduation at SUNY Purchase in Purchase.

Penny Social: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. John C. Hart Memorial Library in Shrub Oak will host a penny social to benefit the children's room makeover. There will also be a bake sale, raffles and activities for kids. Calling begins at 3 p.m.

Belly Dancing: Noon. Belly dancing by Sarah will be holding a free open house, featuring a belly dance lesson and class performance, at Solaris Sports Club. Light refreshments will be served. 201 Veterans Road.

Sunday, June 24

Seton Jubilee: 11 a.m. A special mass commemorating the Golden Jubilee Year of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton parish will be celebrated by Bishop Dennis Sullivan, vicar general of the Archdiocese of New York. A light reception will follow in the auditorium.

Mini Chefs: 1 to 2:30 p.m. Super Duper Mini Chefs will take place in Center Court of the Jefferson Valley Mall. Aspiring young cooks and little foodies can explore the creativity of cuisine through a combination of demonstrations and interactive activities. Sponsored by Nickelodeon.
