YORKTOWN, N.Y. - The Yorktown Town Board has decided not to reverse a law that it changed 18 years ago.
The board had been considering taking back approval authority from the planning board for proposed development projects in the OB (office business) district and other zones but decided such authority was best left in the hands of planners after receiving many comments from residents two weeks ago objecting to the change.
However, Supervisor Michael Grace said the board may pass a resolution in the future that would require the Planning Board to refer certain projects to the Town Board. The Town Board already has that authority, but Grace said an official action by the Town Board would make it official.
Meanwhile, a public hearing on allowing helistops as a permitted special permit use in OB districts was adjourned since it had to be readvertised as a result of some language changes. IBM is looking to have a helistop at its Yorktown location.
