YORKTOWN HEIGHTS - Yorktown Heights Engine Company #1 will start off five days of carnival fun Wednesday night with a parade. The parade is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. and will start on Moseman Ave. by St. Patricks Church to Hanover Road, where it will then turn north on Hanover to Underhill Ave. It will then follow Underhill north onto Commerce St. and then onto Veterans Rd., and will end at the fire department.
Police Daniel Chief McMahon has advised residents that the following roads will be closed from 6:45 p.m. until the parade is finished.
- Underhill Ave. (between Hanover Street and Route 118)- Commerce St. (between Route 202/35 and Underhill Ave.)- Veterans Rd. (between Commerce St. and Maple Hill St.)- Kear Street (at Underhill Ave.)- Downing Drive (at Commerce St.)- Hanover Rd. (between Moseman Ave. and Commerce St.)- Front St. (at Underhill Ave.)- Richard, Church & Harwood Pl. (at Hanover Rd.)
According to the fire department, the parade will pay tribute to those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001 including EMS personnel, firefighters, first responders and police officers -- as well as all who serve in the United States Military.
The carnival begins after the parade Wednesday and ends on Sunday. It is open on Thursday and Friday from 6 to 11 p.m., Saturday from 1 to 11 p.m., and Sunday from 1 to 9 p.m.
