Yorktown Extends Hours for Paying Taxes Monday

Town and county taxes are due by 6 p.m. Monday in Yorktown.

YORKTOWN, N.Y. — The Yorktown Receiver of Taxes Office will have extended hours Monday for residents looking to pay their town and Westchester County tax bill at the last minute.

Receiver of Taxes Elfriede Schmid said property owners have until 6 p.m. Monday to pay their taxes without being hit with a 2% penalty the following day. The office will open at 8:30 a.m.

The town accepts payments by cash, check or money order. No credit or debit card payments are permitted.

Under state and county laws, no partial payments are allowed. Schmid said about half of Yorktown's residents pay their taxes through bank escrow accounts.

She noted her office was "fully staffed" to handle the expected onslaught of taxpayers all day Monday.

For further information, contact the receiver of taxes at 914-962-5722, ext. 212.
