YORKTOWN, N.Y.-- The flags at Yorktown government buildings will be flown at half-staff Friday to honor a Brooklyn marine killed Sunday in Afghanistan.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo ordered flags at government buildings throughout New York be flown at half-staff to honor Lance Corporal Jabari N. Thompson.
"On behalf of all New Yorkers, we honor the service and dedication of Lance Corporal Thompson," Cuomo said. "I send my deepest condolences to the family, friends, and fellow Marines of this New Yorker and join with them in mourning his loss."
Jabari died of wounds he sustained on July 13 while conducting combat operations in Afghanistan. He was a member of the 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
