Yorktown GOP Chair Expects Large Primary Turnout

YORKTOWN, N.Y. - Yorktown Republican chairperson Serafina Mastro expects a large majority of the approximately 7,700 registered Republicans in town to turn out for Tuesday's Republican primary because of the dissatisfaction with President Barack Obama.

"I'm expecting 75 percent of everyone I talked to to vote," she said. "They're not very happy with Obama, with Obama-care, real estate exemptions, taxes. There's a lot of people very unhappy with him."

Mastro, who manages Reliable Oil in Yorktown, said despite Mitt Romney's seemingly insurmountable lead in the delegate race for the GOP nomination, it's important for the party faithful to get out to the polling places.

"It's important because we need to send a message," she said. "As Republicans, we need to be more vocal and more active or else we won't be able to change anything."

While she forecasts a close election in November, Mastro believes Romney will unseat Obama.

"This is what my gut feeling is telling me," she said. "He seems to have the solution for a lot of the issues going on. I really think he will work very hard to turn things around and make our country better."
