Yorktown Heights Student Wins BIC Scholarship

SHELTON, Conn. – Elizabeth Dougherty of Yorktown Heights, was recently awarded a $3,000 scholarship from BIC Corporation.

Each year, BIC gives scholarships to children of BIC employees, based on the students’ scholastic performance and service to their communities.

BIC awarded $115,000 in scholarships this year, to 64 students. Dougherty, daughter of Edward Dougherty, attends Providence College in Rhode Island. 

BIC is a major manufacturer of products such as lighters, shavers and razors, and stationery products. Its North American headquarters are in Shelton, Conn., and its lighters are made in Milford, Conn.
