YORKTOWN, N.Y. With a stronghold of family members standing right behind him, Michael Grace took his oath as Supervisor of Yorktown.
Grace, who is a former town attorney, said the same rules apply when running a town as they do in a family.
And as the rules are in my family, so shall be the rules of the town board. So no kicking each other, roughhousing goes outside, no conspiratorial cliques, and remember your inside voice, Grace said, which was met with laughter from a room full of onlookers. And lastly, when I run out of explanations as to why its just because I say so. He continued, And all kidding aside, I welcome embarking on this new adventure to bring the Town of Yorktown back to greatness again.
Grace took the oath of office, as well as new town board member Dave Paganelli, new Yorktown Justice Gary Raniolo, and Nick Bianco, an incumbent on the board took the oath as well.
The inauguration took place on New Years Day in the town board room to a room filled to capacity, where there was almost no remaining standing room. County Legislators Michael Kaplowitz (D, WF, I District 4) and John Testa (R, C, IN District 1) also took their oaths alongside the local officials. Each newly-inaugurated official thanked their supporters, their family and the residents of Yorktown.
Im looking forward to working with Michael and Nick, and Vishnu and Terrence, and I think we have a very dynamic board moving forward and we can accomplish a lot of great things and relieve a lot of stress for the people of Yorktown that we were elected to serve, Paganelli said.
