Yorktown Police Arrest Attempted Burglar

YORKTOWN, N.Y. - Yorktown Police arrested Mahopac Falls resident Norberto Ortega, 48, after he attempted to cut and steal several copper pipes from a resident of Mahopac Street in Yorktown.

Police report that on November 18 at approximately 9:57 a.m. a call was received from a resident reporting an interrupted burglary. A police investigation revealed that Ortega had allegedly entered the home and cut several copper pipes in an attempt to steal the property, before fleeing the scene. The suspect, later identified as Ortega, was arrested outside his residence in Mahopac and charged with burglary in the second degree, criminal mischief in the second degree, both of which are felonies. He was remanded to Westchester County Jail without bail and is scheduled to make a court Yorktow appearance in Yorktown Town Court on November 22, at 6 p.m.
