YORKTOWN, N.Y. - Two runaways from Phoenix Academy in Shrub Oak were arrested and charged by Yorktown Police in connection with the burglary of a nearby delicatessen.
Police Officers Ken Sgroi and Paul Grieve and Sgt. John Deiulio responded July 31 at 7 a.m. to a burglary at Johnny's Deli on Route 202, where the owner said someone broke into the business through a second-story window.
Earlier, police encountered two teenagers who were reported as runaways from Phoenix Academy. Further investigation identified Tyriek Hatch, 18, and Marquis Ross, 16, both originally from the Bronx, as the suspects and they were later charged with burglary in the third degree, a class D felony.
Both defendants were arraigned before Yorktown Town Justice Sal Lagonia, who set $15,000 cash bail for Hatch and $10,000 cash bail for Ross. Both were sent to Westchester County Jail.
