YORKTOWN, N.Y.A New Rochelle man allegedly hit a family member with his car in the parking lot of the Jefferson Valley Mall while two young children were inside the car.
Yorktown Police responded to a report of a domestic dispute in the parking lot at around 5:50 p.m. Friday and found that the man, 31-year-old Marcio Carneiro, had allegedly backed up his car hitting and injuring a family member with the open car door, and then left the scene. The injured family member was transported and treated at Hudson Valley Hospital Center with non-life threatening injuries. Police also reported that there were two young children inside Carneiros vehicle at the time of the incident.
Police located Carneiros car in New Rochelle and placed him under arrest at around 9 p.m. that evening. He was charged with a felony for assault in the second degree, endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor and leaving the scene of a personal injury auto accident, also a misdemeanor.
Carneiro was remanded to Westchester County Jail in lieu of $1,500 bail and is due to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on March 6 at 6 p.m.
