YORKTOWN, N.Y. The longtime director of the Yorktown Presbyterian Preschool will be honored Sunday as she retires after a 25-year career.
All graduates of the preschool are invited to attend a 10:45 a.m. service and a noon reception for Connie Stringer at the First Presbyterian Church of Yorktown .
"Getting to know whole families and watching them evolve and grow up has been one of the greatest pleasures of this job," Stringer said.
While at the preschool, Stringer developed the parent cooperative model, which requires parents to assist in the classroom on a rotating basis.
"This lets parents see what is going on," said Stringer, who has a master's degree in early childhood education.
After years of instructing 3- and 4-year-olds to hang up their coats because "there is no maid service," Stringer said, she is looking forward to spending time with her husband, BJ, and her sons and grandchildren.
Cards and monetary gifts for Stringer are being collected in the church office, 2880 Crompond Road.
