Yorktown Seeks Volunteers for Litter Cleanup

YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- The Town of Yorktown has a fight on its hands, and it’s looking for a cavalry armed with gloves, bags and team spirit.

On Saturday, April 21, a day before Earth Day, Yorktown will be waging its annual battle against litter, known as "The Battle of Yorktown."

In order for the town to be able to get to every neighborhood, volunteers are needed to give as much time as they can. Individuals, families and organizations are all welcomed to participate.

Group volunteers are asked to send a representative to the town's environmental conservation office, located behind the police department on Route 202, to register the area to be cleaned. Orange litter bags, safety vests and litter grabbers can also be picked up there.
