YORKTOWN, N.Y. - With the current heat wave expected to reach its peak Saturday with the heat index nearing 100 degrees, Yorktown Supervisor Michael Grace has decided to open the town's cooling center.
The Yorktown Community and Cultural Center, at 1974 Commerce St., will be open to town residents Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Residents can bring non-perishable items and are encouraged to bring necessary medication with them. No pets are allowed.
