YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- The new rules for recycling in Westchester County, enacted on June 1, mean there are more items to recycle.
To make sure you can fit all your recyclables in your Yorktown Recyclable bins, new, larger bins are being offered.
At Tuesdays town board meeting, the board set the prices for the new bins. The current 14 gallon bins will remain at $6, and the new 18 gallon bins will be sold at $8 each.
Supervisor Susan Siegel reminded those in attendance that should their bins break, residents can bring them back to the town for a new one, free of charge. Should residents wish to exchange a broken 14 gallon bin for a new 18 gallon bin, they will only be charged the difference between the two.
Were not looking to make a profit on this, were just looking to cover our costs, she said.
